Lac as a ceramic glaze

How to glaze ceramics with lac.

Since Lac is water proof and is used as a lot as a coating material, it is possible to apply it in ceramics. In fact it can be a very sustainable glaze that will perfectly degrade, in comparison to other glazes.

In this process you would need to dissolve the lac in alcohol (about 70%) to reach a liquid consistency. This Lac liquid can be applied with a brush on ceramics that have been burned once in the kiln into bisque.

You could also try to mix food colouring or so in the Lac liquid mix to reach different colours.
